This invention implements a user friendly, easily accessible drone-based package delivery system to deliver packages to a specified location. This invention includes a package hold and release mechanism, a collision avoidance and navigation system, user applications to monitor the package delivery progress, and a parachute failsafe mechanism to safely recover the drone and the package in case of an in-flight failure.
The delivery mechanism of the invention can deliver the package quickly, safely, and without landing at the destination leading to minimum power consumption. The obstacle avoidance and navigation system guides the drone safely to the destination. The drone, drone operator and package receiving person are connected via internet to a cloud-based server and the drone updates the status to the server during flight.
