Funding Supports from AHEAD for Patent Corporation Treaty (PCT) applications through UBLC

We are pleased to announce that, with the assistance of an AHEAD grant, UBLC will facilitate patent Corporation Treaty (PCT) applications for selected inventions from the University of Moratuwa following an internal evaluation process using guided criteria.

Based on the evaluation, the UBLC chose two inventions from the University of Moratuwa to apply for PCT.

AHEAD has selected F.J. & G. de Saram and Clarivate Analytics India (Pvt) Ltd to provide IP services, and each university will be allowed to file a maximum of three patent Corporation Treaty (PCT) applications with the funds.

Following the signing of the NDA, several discussion rounds took place between the inventors and the Clarivate team, which is facilitated and coordinated by UBLC and AHEAD team. Clarivate Analytics India (Pvt) Ltd submitted a comprehensive report about the invention based on discussion outputs and an Invention Disclosure Form (IDF). This includes patentability search results, market analysis, and ratings for invention and qualitative assessment.

A System And Method For Evaluating Convolutional Neural Networks and Wood preservative formulation and method of preparation thereof were chosen for this funding, as well as the search report requested by the Korean Intellectual Property Office; an International Search Authority.

The reports were received on November 4th and 18th, 2022, respectively. Ongoing discussions about the next step are taking place.
