The Enterprise Engages with Industry at the Material Engineering Symposium

The Department of Material Science and Engineering invited The Enterprise of UoM to deliver an insightful session titled “Leveraging University IP Policy for Enhanced Industry Collaboration” during the Material Engineering Symposium held on 10th October 2024. This session was a key part of the Industry-Academia Networking initiative of the symposium.

Objectives of the Session:

The session aimed to provide participating industry representatives with a clear understanding of:

  • How the University System Works: Offering insights into the mechanisms and processes within the University of Moratuwa that facilitate research, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Provisions of UoM’s IP Policy: Highlighting how the university’s intellectual property policy supports and encourages industry partnerships, enabling seamless collaboration while protecting innovation.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration:

The session emphasized the benefits of aligning academic expertise with industry needs, showcasing the opportunities for innovation, commercialization, and mutual growth available through collaboration with the university. It also clarified how UoM’s IP framework ensures that both academia and industry partners can achieve their objectives while fostering a culture of innovation.

This initiative reflects UoM’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, encouraging meaningful partnerships that drive technological advancement and economic growth in Sri Lanka.
